A little about me

I wanted my first blog to be a little about me so that you can get an idea of where I came from, who I am and all that God has done in my life. I am the daughter of a minister of music, raised in a southern baptist church and grew up in church my whole life. If there ever was a service, we all know that southern baptists can sure find them, so it was every Sunday morning, Sunday evening and Wednesday that we would be at church. We also made sure to hit every revival and those came to town seemed like once a month. I'm sure it was less frequent than that, but between the potlucks and ice cream socials and you know what I mean...it seemed like we lived at church.

I accepted Christ at the young age of 5, went on to re-dedicate my life at the age of 13, but it wasnt' until I was in college that I fully understood the relationship with our Lord and Savior. Besides the normal ups and downs of being a kid, I was blessed to have a "normal" upbringing. Sure, I had my times and moments but over all life was pretty normal. It was in college that I met my future husband as the Baptist Student Union and we have been married ever since. This August, it will be 17 years that we have been married. I have 2 children, Aaron 10 and Mia 8. I feel honored and much joy that God has allowed me to be married to such a wonderful man and the mother to my children. I have my degree in Education and have worked in the school systems as a physical education teacher and coach. Since having my own children I have worked out of the home less frequently but have always found plenty to do. We recently have relocated 2 times in the last 3.5 years. We have lived in New Mexico, Oklahoma and now currently live in California.

I never imagined my life would take me in this direction, but part of what I wanted to blog was how God worked in my life, directed our paths, and ultimately was pruning and refining me. I also never imagined wanting to share my experience publicly like this, however in church one service God was very lound and clear with what he wanted me to do. I had been asking for years why I was going through what I was and it was during this church service that he answered me loud and clear and this is what he said. "Christy..you are to encourage other women, tell them your story, there is a reason I made you transparent, there is a reason I made it easy for you to talk to other women, and I want you to share your story so that others might be encourages to trust in me." I don't know about you, but when the Lord speaks that clearly to you..something inside of me said..you better do this. My prayer is that through my stories you will see not me, but God. That you will see God's love for his daughter, the fact that he never left or forsake me and that ultimately he knew his plans for me. It is no wonder some of my favorite verses are: Jeremiah 29:11, Psalm 31:14, Prov 3: 5-6, Isaiah 40:28-29 and finally Psalm 62:5-8. I hope these verses will speak to you as well.
